Problem Statement

  • In bicycle riding, the rider’s balance and momentum help to  maintain the stability of the bicycle while traveling along the path.
  • For disabled persons with single leg, it is a difficult task to balance and ride the bicycle. Hence the disabled person may face problem to bring back the pedal to the original position after a forward stroke, so applying force becomes a difficult task.

Technology

  • The present invention discloses a linear pedaling system

  • A sliding frame: includes a slider that produces a forward stroke upon the application of an external force.
  • A connecting rod: Slidably connected to the slider
  • A crank wheel:Includes a fixed pin
  • A slotted rod: Attached between a base frame and the connecting rod, Contains a central slot to accommodate the fixed pin
  • A sprocket wheel: Connected to the crank wheel through a chain, features a ratchet wheel mechanism enabling the rotation of the crank wheel in the reverse direction without opposing force

Key Features / Value Proposition

Technical Perspective:

The present invention includes a linear pedaling system and method which provides a larger amount of rotation of crank wheel in forward stroke, when compared to existing bicycles

Involves a method for linear pedaling which provides maximum rotation of more than 180 degree of a crank wheel in forward stroke, thereby the rotation of the crank wheel occurs with increased torque.

User Perspective:

  • Redesigns an existing typical cycle into a linear pedaling cycle for a single leg disabled person as well as for a normal person.
  • Capable of automatically induces a reverse stroke thus aiding the disabled person
